A common question that I receive is, “What hearing aids are the best?”

I know I’m expected to be able to answer this seemingly simple question — as an expert in my field — but it’s just not that simple.

It’s like asking someone “What’s the best beach in Florida?” There are a lot of personal circumstances that determine what is the right decision based on many factors.

Throughout this article, my goal is to help you to better understand your options and the key questions to ask when deciding on what type of hearing aids are right for you.

I’ll also discuss the next steps that you should take and why.

Which Hearing Aid Manufacturer Is Right For You?

To jump back to my beach analogy – it’s a little like asking whether you should choose Higgs Beach or Smathers Beach — they both make for a wonderful afternoon of sun but are favored by different people. Hearing aid manufacturers are the same.

We and our customers love ReSound products! They have proven themselves innovative and strong! Being the first at many amazing hearing aid features and technologies.

This is the most reputable manufacturer having sold millions of hearing devices.

Truthfully, all manufacturers attempt to create a product that returns significantly improved hearing. Some do it better than others.

I have learned that by specializing in a particular manufacturer, you gain unique skills and insight to provide excellent programming and outcomes.

You cannot be the best at every manufacturer’s software and programming (a jack of all trades, master of none).

Mind you, some manufacturers create a unique product that others do not. CROS, bone conduction, and pediatric products are offered by only a handful of manufacturers.

It’s great to be versed in and understand all manufacturers’ products but favor one. If you’re a first-time user, trust your audiologist’s recommendations.

How Do We Incorporate Your Personal Style And Budget Into The Decision?

A very important consideration is choosing the right hearing aids for you and your lifestyle. Different environments mean your devices will need to perform to their very best at various locations.

For example, if you spend your day in meeting rooms or at events with lots of background noise, then your devices would need to perform very differently from somebody that just needs a little help when speaking to their family or watching television.

This translates through to your preferred style as well with vanity being one of the key things that stops many people from addressing a hearing challenge. We also take into account the level of discreteness that you are comfortable with.

Some people demand rechargeable batteries so they don’t have to fiddle with or replace small batteries. Others don’t mind and would prefer to save on their investment by not including the rechargeability feature.

Fitting your budget is also a huge aspect as well. With different hearing devices and treatment plans available, we need to find you an option that works for you.

Whether we utilize payment plans, your insurance benefits, or explore other options, we’ll find the perfect fit.
