Supporting World Community Service Projects – Donating Hearing Aids To Children In Panama

by | Feb 1, 2022 | Hearing Aids, News, Patient Resources

Since the day I started as an audiologist, a big part of my mission was to help others.

Over the years, I’ve seen the changes in people’s personalities after being fitted with hearing technology, and it’s remarkable to witness the impact hearing can have on one’s quality of life.

Fortunately, I consider myself lucky to be able to go into work each day and help others. Being an audiologist isn’t just helping people hear better, but it is also being a friend and supporter to those who need me.

Just recently, we got the opportunity to fit children in Panama with hearing aids prior to being implanted with cochlear implants.

These patients were recipients of donated hearing aids from ReSound to us for use in World Community Service projects.

Winner!
Winner!

Unfortunately, due to uncontrollable factors, not everyone is in the same position to purchase hearing technology or move forward.

By taking part in community service projects such as these, it allows many people, who wouldn’t have otherwise got the opportunity, to access necessary technology, allowing them to comfortably move forward.

Hearing loss can affect every aspect of a person’s life – physically, socially, and mentally.

Even so, that it’s especially important to identify hearing challenges in children as early as possible, as it can halt their learning and social skills.

For those less fortunate, hearing loss can go undetected for years, which can contribute to their learning skills and behavior.

Thankfully, these children were able to get access to donated hearing aids by ReSound and gain control of their hearing. I can’t wait to see their progress over the next few months!

Do you know somebody that needs to see this? Why not share it?
